Franchise History

Mail Boxes Etc.

Mail Boxes Etc. has grown steadily throughout its history. Entrepreneurs in around 2500 MBE service centres in more than 40 countries put our business concept at the service of the needs of businesses and individuals in the various local communities where they live.

First founded in San Diego, California in 1980, Mail Boxes Etc. was introduced in Italy in 1993 by Graziano Fiorelli who purchased a license from MBE. Since the opening of the first pilot centre in Milan in 1993, the Italian network has now reached more than 500 associated centres. Between 2000 and 2003, MBE Italia also acquired an exclusive license from the Mail Boxes Etc brand for the territories of Spain, Germany and Austria.

In 2009, MBE Worldwide – a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fiorelli family – took over all Mail Boxes Etc. outlets worldwide (except in the US and Canada) from the American MBE Inc., thereby becoming the owner of the brand, business format and all existing Master Franchising contracts worldwide.

2016
Mail Boxes Etc. grows to over 1500 locations across four continents. The network’s total revenue exceeds €400 million.
